NPR Holiday Relay Race

Holiday Relay Race

My office takes its holiday partying seriously. Yesterday’s festivities included a relay race around the building (in the snow!) in various modes of kid-fun transportation: three-legged race, hula hoop roll, big wheel tricycle and bouncy ball. NPR’s Andy Carvin live streamed the race from his iPhone, and other staffers (not crazy enough to be outside in the cold) watched the race through the windows.

In my relay team, I chose the bouncy ball, which was a mistake, because I couldn’t get moving on the thing and totally blew my team’s lead.

It was loosely organized chaos, with folks making up rules on the fly. Given there was no specific admonition not to, relay team members pushed the person riding the trike, for added speed. And I wasn’t the only one having trouble with the bouncy ball — we soon gave up and just ran for the finish.

I have no idea who won, but it was fun.
