Rob and I took advantage of today’s mild weather to go out for a leisurely bike ride. We originally intended to drive out to the Western Maryland Rail Trail but got too late a start. Instead, we stayed a little closer to home, venturing out on the W&OD Trail. I turned back at East Falls Church Park, while Rob went all the way out to the outer edge of Vienna (and is still on his way back).
It’s been a while since I went out on the W&OD. With the fall color, thinning foliage and cool air, it has a whole different character than in the summer months. Still lovely — particularly the stretch between Columbia Pike and the Custis Trail intersection, and on the Four Mile Run Trail through Barcroft Park.
