Cottages at Sunrise

Delaware Cottage Weekend

Rob has been musing aloud for months about wanting to rent a cottage by the beach in Delaware and spend a week away — perhaps using that time to dig in on a subject he’s especially wanted to study or refine. His birthday this year fell on a three-day weekend, so, with our friend Dari, we made it a Delaware beach cottage weekend.

(If you can’t see the slideshow above, you can see the photos on Flickr.)

The cottages in question, at Delaware Seashore State Park (between Dewey and Bethany beaches), are not actually on the beach, but rather face the Indian River Inlet, which feeds into the Atlantic Ocean not too far away. Being the off-season, the cottages were quite affordably priced, the grounds incredibly quiet and nearby Rehoboth Beach hardly busy. Our cottage was nicely-appointed: small kitchen, two bedrooms + loft, fireplace, television (no Internet, but decent AT&T 3G connectivity).

We also got a few good seafood meals in at area restaurants. Go Fish! is practically mandatory for us, and we’ve become fans of Big Fish Grill and Matt’s Fish Camp in recent visits.
