Penguin Cam

Streaming video by Ustream The live Penguin Cam at SeaWorld San Diego is my favorite thing ever this week. These awkward little (and not-so-little) guys are so fun to watch. (Note: I usually watch the feed with the sound off. …

Top 10 reasons why Darth Vader was an amazing project manager | GeekWire

Brandon Koeller writes, “From a certain perspective his mass murder, brutal oppression, and frequent deception to serve his own ends makes him seem like a pretty bad guy. But if you look past all that to his action, you will find a very capable and effective project manager.”

Cartography's Favourite Map Monster: The Land Octopus | Strange Maps

I never knew octopi were a thing in historic maps. Frank Jacobs writes, “Real octopi are sea creatures, of course. But the Cartographic Land Octopus - CLO for short - need not worry about being in the right ecosphere. Being fictional, it is not restricted to the sea. It can (and need) do only one thing: instill map-readers with fear and revulsion.” Also: I cannot now un-see Octopus Stalin.

A Cycle Race at a Snail’s Pace | PRI's The World

A “slow bicyling” competition in Switzerland. “The idea is very simple. You start at one end, and try to make it to the other end as slowly as possible. There are two basic rules: you cannot let your bike stray from its lane, and you cannot put your foot down.”

This Bus Has a Mustache

Taken last month during the “Curbside Cookoff,” near Metro Center, Washington, DC. The owner may have been affiliated with one of the food trucks. Obviously, I had to stop and photograph it.

getting into the april fool's spirit

True to form, ThinkGeek is offering its typical array of themed products as well. I want Wii Sports for iPhone (no link, sadly), though I could be convinced to get the Betamax-to-HD-DVD Converter. (Still doesn’t beat last year’s SnuzNLuz Wifi …

photo of the day: cannibal clouds

From my trip to Papago Park in Phoenix with my sister earlier this month. I’d never seen clouds quite like this before — but they remind me a lot of this Essex Green t-shirt, promoting the band’s album Cannibal Sea.

By random chance, I happened upon a Web site to a vary similar domain name this this one earlier today — MoreThanThat.net (vs. MoreThanThis.net). The kicker: It’s a short-lived (Aug.-Nov. 2006) fansite for Jim and Pam of The Office. Granted, …
